James Emery

James Emery received his MFA in Acting from Smith College after attending the University of Maine in Orono. He performed with several companies in Boston before spending two years in Providence with Rites & Reason, a community-university "research to performance" project of the Afro-American Studies Dept. at Brown.

Returning to Northampton, James joined Andrea Hairston in founding Chrysalis Theatre, a multi-disciplinary, poly-cultural performance ensemble dedicated to new work.

In a natural extension of these experiences in the theatre James joined Enchanted Circle in 1987. He performs in THE SKINNER SERVANT’S TOUR: A Living History of Wistariahurst, Reading Alive!, Folktales from Japan, Tales from Mother Russia and BETWEEN THE CANALS: The Evolution of a Mill Town. James is the Stage Manager for LEAH ENTERS LATE. He also performs regularly with New Century Theatre of Northampton and maintains a steady massage therapy practice.
