In this workshop, participants explore several ways to turn journal entries, school lessons and everyday events and happenings into creative writing events. Using theater games and self-reflection techniques, students will be taught how to create writing prompts for themselves and offer constructive criticism for others.

Focusing on social justice themes and current events, young people are guided into the discussion and exploration of differing perspectives and opinions. Writing exercises focus on whole group collaborations, small group inventions, and individual experiences.

This workshop can be taught as a single class, 60 - 90 minutes long, or as part of a series and is recommended for grades 3-8.
