Culture RX Social Prescription Program

Enchanted Circle is working in partnership with the Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC), the Springfield Caring Health Center, the Community Music School of Springfield and the Springfield Museums to launch the MCC’s Culture RX Social Prescription Program in Western Massachusetts.

Enchanted Circle’s arts in education work recognizes and promotes the inherent value of the arts as a dynamic teaching and learning tool and an invaluable resource for physical and emotional well being. We are dedicated to serving vulnerable children, youth and families in Holyoke and Springfield with culturally relevant programs and are excited by the opportunity to work in an intentional partnership with Caring Health, Community Music School of Springfield (CMSS), and Springfield Museums (SM).

Social prescription is common in other countries. Massachusetts will lead the practice here. Doctors, social workers, teachers, and others will prescribe cultural engagement as a protective, healthy habit. Mass Cultural Council will reimburse cultural organizations for the social prescriptions they fill and the services they provide. This improves health and well-being and contributes to the overall fiscal health and stability of the cultural sector.– Massachusetts Cultural Council

CultureRx Initiative

ECT can provide 6 unique Open Mind Storytime videos with corresponding Art Bags filled with art supplies and instructions for artful learning at home.  Caring Health Center  can purchase Art Bag sets and distribute them to patients with young children.

  • Set of 10 bags: $ 200.00. 

ECT offers a menu of interactive arts programs for CDC staff to choose from, including Personal Story Circles; Joyful Yoga; Real-Life Writing and Recording; Felt Bag Making; Poetry & Drum Circles; Digital Collage.  Each series will focus on group cohesion, self reflection and expression, health engagement and self advocacy. Participants, teaching artists, and CHC staff will co-create a safe and brave space for connection, creativity, reflection, and support. ECT can provide a menu of Interactive workshop series will be offered to CDC for patient cohorts at $200/session:  

  • Each cohort= $800 (4 sessions @ $200/session)
