Xeric Foundation awards $5,000 to ECT

Xeric Foundation awards $5,000 to Enchanted Circle Theater for Arts Integration and Family Engagement Initiative at Morgan Elementary School.

(Holyoke) Enchanted Circle Theater has worked in the Morgan Elementary School for over two decades, often with unique projects in individual classrooms that integrate theater arts into standards-based curricula, and always with meaningful results. In 1993, a 5th grade Morgan Elementary teacher wrote, “It is credit to your program’s effectiveness that absenteeism at school declined on the days of your program. The students did not want to miss an ECT day.”

This award brings ECT’s team of Teaching Artists back to Morgan Elementary to provide Professional Development in Arts Integration skills; Arts Integrated Classroom Workshops; Curriculum Development and Dissemination; and Family Engagement Workshops at Arts Integrated Classroom Events. Programming will take place in the fall and winter of the 2014 school year.
